Broadcast Sport Awards 2022: NEP TV moment of the year

A big reveal on the night will be, NEP TV Moment of the Year. What makes this award special is rather than being voted for by sports industry judges, the NEP TV Moment of the Year is voted for by you, the readers of Broadcast Sport.
This award is there to mark the absolute best sporting moments of the year, brought to millions of TVs around the world by broadcasters. So,let’s look at the nominees:
Women’s Hockey team win Commonwealth gold, BBC
After 24 years of trying, England finally won Commonwealth gold. They had previously played (and lost) three finals to their opponents Australia. But thanks to goals from Holly Hunt and Tess Howard England managed to bring the gold home!
Tyson Fury beats Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium, BT Sport
WBC Champion Tyson Fury put his WBC title on the line against Dillian Whyte in Wembley Stadium. After a swift right upper cut, Fury was declared the winner by technical knockout in the sixth round. Fury has been a massive advocate for men’s mental health and his journey from the top of boxing to rock bottom and all the way to the top again is an inspiration to all.
Great Britain’s Women’s Curling Team win Winter Olympic gold, BBC
Just a day on from the men winning silver, Eve Muirhead led the Women’s Curling team to Gold. Their 10-3win was the joint-biggest winning margin in a final since the sports introduction to the Winter Olympics.
England Women win UEFA Euro 2022 in extra time at Wembley Stadium, BBC
This summer, Sarina Wiegman’s squad captured the imagination of the country, as England hosted and won the UEFA Women’s Euros. England’s first major tournament win since the world cup in 1966, football finally came home thanks to a Chloe Kelly goal in extra-time at Wembley Stadium. A home tournament has inspired a generation of girls to take part in the beautiful game, with the viewing figures and attendances for the games breaking countless records
Final day of the Premier League 2021/22 season, Sky Sports
The Premier League final day was full of drama. All Manchester City needed to do was match Liverpool’s result to be crowned Champions. It looked as though it was written in the stars for Liverpool as former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard led his Aston Villa side into a shock 0-2 lead against City. Pep Guardiola’s side managed to score three goals in six minutes to clinch the title.
Verstappen Wins F1 title in dramatic fashion of the final lap of the final race, F1 TV /Sky Sports
Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton had competed neck and neck all season for the Formula 1 title, with the matter set to be settled during the final race of the season in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Going into the closing seven laps of the race it was Hamilton who was in the lead, when the safety car was issued after a crash. The race restarted and with his fresher tyres, Verstappen sped past Hamilton to claim the F1 title in the final lap.
