NEP celebrate World Refill Day at Royal Ascot
As part of our pledge to be more sustainable, NEP is celebrating #WorldRefillDay, with all crew members using refillable bottles onsite at #RoyalAscott2022. Globally, NEP is committed to sustainable productions and environmental responsibility. In 2019 NEP launched the Project Earth Initiative, to raise awareness about how integral it is to the way we live and work. We also recently received the ISO 14001 Certification.
Amongst other initiatives, this includes creating eco-friendly offices for our employees and Earth smart innovations for clients. The pandemic has significantly contributed to the reduction of single-use plastics used across the business. All members of staff have been issued with a reusable flask and/or water bottles for hot / cold drinks to reduce waste and avoid use of plastic cups and bottles.
Water bottles is a step in the right direction, but it isn’t enough. NEP have also banned the use of individual plastic servings of milk, as well as single serve sachets and condiments. The company have also moved away from single-use batteries and single use cable ties. Cable ties have been replaced by reusable Velcro straps and biodegradable gaffer tap.
The company has also worked in recent years to digitalise as much as possible, only using paper when necessary. Recycling is promoted wherever possible, with biodegradable bin bags being used to reduce our impact on landfills. We also use recycled water to wash all of our OB trucks.
We purchase our energy from renewable sources and are actively working to reduce our carbon footprint. This includes using solar power stations to generate energy onsite. All initiatives form part of our long-standing commitment to work with ITV to achieve ‘net zero’ by 2030 to combat climate change.
We are committed to minimizing our environmental impact by using our resources wisely, and that starts with the basics such as using reusable water bottles. All such efforts are with the hope that we can be part of the change towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future both in the broadcast industry and in wider society.
