NEP Group and Aurora Worldwide part of Extreme E production nominated for three awards at SVG Sports TV Awards 2022
The SVG Sports TV Awards 2022 are recognising outstanding companies, teams and individuals that have pushed the boundaries of sports broadcasting in 2021. NEP Group and Aurora Worldwide has been recognised for its work on the ground-breaking, off-road electric series, Extreme E, in which Electric SUV’s race across the most unforgiving of off-road environments. The recognition for this production, which debuted in 2021, has resulted in nominations for three of the six awards.
NEP and Aurora Worldwide has been shortlisted for 'Outstanding Production Achievement (Event)', where nominees have delivered outstanding live coverage for viewers, pushing the boundaries of sports broadcasting. To help bring the races to life, NEP’s team in the UK reached out to their colleagues in The Netherlands to create a cutting-edge AR and graphics solution.
The second nomination is for 'Outstanding Production Achievement (Innovation)' category. Similar to the aforementioned 'Outstanding Production Achievement (Event)' award, this one recognises broadcasters that have delivered new ways of covering sporting events. With no technical infrastructure in any of the locations, NEP alongside Aurora Worldwide distributed the action live to 180 countries worldwide!
These highly competitive categories include new technologies and production techniques, many of which helped the industry navigate the constant challenges associated with delivering productions during the pandemic.
The third nomination NEP and Aurora Worldwide received is in the ‘One Planet Award for Sustainability in Sports TV’, which recognises companies and productions making significant strides towards net-zero carbon and zero waste society. This all-electric off-road racing series is designed to bring attention to climate change, the use of sustainable, all-electric vehicles, and provide audiences with a spectacular event.

NEP, alongside Aurora Worldwide created a complete end-to-end, sustainable production in all five locations. This included a custom IP flypack, remote production solutions, crewing, satellite and fibre connectivity, edit, and ingest solutions.
