NEP UK’s Markela Deverikou Wins Production Support Engineer Category at The Rise Awards 2022
NEP is delighted that two of our talented engineers Markela Deverikou and Kath Gray were shortlisted and recognised for their achievements at 2022 RISE Awards.
Hosted at the BT Sport Studios in London, the Rise Awards celebrate the phenomenal talent, skills, expertise, and achievements of extraordinary women across the broadcast technology and services industries.
With a record number of 16 awards up for the taking, winners were awarded across business, engineering, marketing/PR, production, and more.
Broadcast Guarantee Engineer Markela Deverikou from NEP UK was announced as the winner in the Production Support Engineer category at the Rise Awards 2022.
Global advocacy membership organisation Rise said: “The award recognised an organised and skilled Production Support Engineer, who represents the very best of our media profession. She has a strong understanding of the broadcast chain, offers outstanding troubleshooting skills; implicitly relates to relevant standards and demonstrates the ability to fault find from first principles. She excels in the high-pressure and time-critical broadcast production environment.”
Markela aspired to become an engineer from the age of 15 but only recognised her passion for broadcasting after university. Having secured a tech office job post-graduation, Markela was gradually exposed to the outside broadcasting industry and soon took her first steps as a trainee engineer a year later.
Markela works as a Broadcast Guarantee Engineer on major projects such as Love Island and the Winter Olympics for NEP UK. She has further used her experiences to work with Rise as a mentor to support the next generation of women aspiring to work in the broadcast technology sector.
With the aim to achieve a diverse and gender-balanced workforce across the broadcast media and entertainment technology sectors, the Rise Awards is just one of the organisation’s initiatives to support women in business.
Rise offers an award-winning global mentoring programme, a free membership to all genders - with access to regular networking events, seminars, workshops and conferences – and an educational Rise Up Academy programme designed to inspire the next generation of talent.
Membership to Rise is free and is open to anyone working across, or aspiring to work in, the broadcast media technology sector. Sign up here!
